Phaedra Englezou (Athens, 1980) is an Artist - Museologist based in Piraeus, Greece.

 

In 2012 she graduated with First-Class Honours from the Department of Visual and Applied Arts of the University of Western Macedonia in Greece, having attended the 3rd Painting Workshop, under the supervision of Professor Haris Kontosfyris. During her studies she attended, apart from the basic workshops of Painting and Sculpture, workshops of Decorative Arts, Digital Arts, Photography, Performance Art and Jewellery. As part of her studies, she received a Scholarship and Performance Award from the State Scholarship Foundation (IKY) for the academic year 2010-2011.

 

In 2019, she continued her studies and obtained the joint Master's degree "Museum Studies" with First-Class Honours from the National & Kapodistrian University of Athens and the University of West Attica, after submitting her Master's Thesis in 2021, entitled:

"The representation of the refugee memory of Nea Lampsakos, Euboea, through a public art installation".

 

She is a member of the Chamber of Fine Arts of Greece and since 2013 she has been working as an Art Teacher.

The artist herself notes:

"Art is a means of communication for me. I express myself mainly through painting, photography and video art, with the choice depending on the theme of each work. 


My source of inspiration is anything that moves me and piques my interest, while my main expectation is that the viewer interprets my work according to their own perceptions."
